FREADOM I banned books week

This week (September 21-27 2014) is 'Banned Books Week'.

Each year, hundreds of complains are filed wich aim to remove certain books from libraries. The called reasons are explicit representation of sexuality or violence, bad language and the dealing of issues such as homosexuality, drugs or suicide. The most commonly affected are school libraries, but also public and academic libraries.

Banned Books Week is a week in wich everyone in the book community comes together to celebrate the freedom to choose or the freedom to express one's opinions no matter if they are considered unorthodox or unpopular.

To honor that, I want to share my some of my favourite books which were banned at some point of time:

Lolita, Vladimir Nabokov
The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Stephen Chbosky
The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins
Looking for Alaska, John Green
Frankenstein, Mary Shelley
Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury
Harry Potter (entire series), J.K Rowling
The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, Mark Twain
The Giver, Lois Lowry

Yes, books are dangerous. They should be dangerous- they contain ideas. - Pete Hautman
